Paradise Fish and Flora sees a 15,000 gallon koi pond added to a Point Loma property that was once home to dirty bushes and unpaved lawns. A weed-covered lot in Southern California belongs to Caltrans, but a Los Angeles couple took a surprising approach when they designed a new garden for their Union City home. The couple live next door to the garden and own Paradise Fish & Flora, a garden in the backyard of their home.
The square is a modern update of an old roof garden: regimented rows of trees include ficus, jacaranda, plane trees and coral, as well as undulating rocky islands. The careful arrangement of trees, plants and boulders creates an environment that reflects the pool. The memorial garden covers more than 1,000 square meters and includes several screens that line the perimeter of each garden. This construction led to the creation of a large outdoor pool with pool, Koi pond and an outdoor amphitheater.
The redwoods can also be used as living space in the new design, as well as an outdoor amphitheater for concerts and other events.

The Garden of Peace, located west of Villa La Paz, recalls the four cultures that gave birth to the movement of agricultural workers. The paved square was designed by renowned landscape architect Garrett Eckbo and is located on the site of a former factory farm in the heart of the city of LaPaz. Look at the back and see what you can get inspired by plants, trees, grasses, shrubs and other plants for your own property.
California lilac, poppies and tower decorations are colourful plants that can withstand the stresses of a drought - influenced by the climate. Many of the plants native to California are drought tolerant, which helps protect the new design. Ask a landscape architect and you will find that the use of native, drought-tolerant plants is not a new trend. It takes a few years to finish the garden path, but the many native plants from California are beginning to mature.
